At Advantage Chiropractic Clinic, we take the responsibility of your health care seriously. Our equipment is state-of-the-art as well as our doctor’s expertise. Our doctors and staff are constantly training and improving our knowledge and certification. Let’s talk a little about Dr. Tom Vrbka and his level of advanced training.
A certified sports chiropractor possesses specialized knowledge of sports injuries and physical fitness, giving athletes the opportunity to recover faster from an injury as well as potentially preventing future injuries.
Certified sports chiropractors can benefit athletes in several ways. Certified sports chiropractors have access to a wider range of treatment tools, expertise in high-performance athletics and preventative strategies, guidance for training, experience with sports nutrition consulting and sports-specific treatment and preventative exercises.
Certified sports chiropractors are experts in the way the body functions during movement. Rather than just reducing pain, they can focus on total body wellness and helping your body reach its optimal functioning. They are also immersed in the latest sports medicine research, trends and treatment techniques.
Chiropractors are known for their non-surgical treatment of joint conditions but often overlooked is the importance of treating the surrounding soft tissues (i.e. muscles and ligaments) which are so vital in keeping you in the game or getting you back on the field faster. This is the value of seeing a specialist such as a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (also known as a CCSP).
Non-athletes can also benefit from being evaluated and treated by a certified sports chiropractor. Benefits include faster evaluation of an injury or pain source, reduced treatment duration, corrective exercises to prevent injuries, an emphasis on the holistic approach and the ability to take advantage of the latest treatments and methods developed for athletics.
Dr. Tom Vrbka has achieved the Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP) level after completing a minimum of 100 hours of post-doctoral education in specialized sports medicine topics and passing a board examination. Continuing education is required annually for a CCSP to maintain their credentials. There are less than ten Certified Chiropractic Sports Physicians (CCSP) in the entire State of Alabama.

I like how simply you put some of the purposes of a sports chiropractor. You say that they give athletes the opportunity to recover faster from an injury. There are so many injuries that happen in sports, sometimes requiring orthopedic surgery. What you say can be applied here too. They can help a faster recovery after orthopedic surgery.
