We Can Help

At Advantage Chiropractic Clinic, we treat a variety of patients, from infants to the elderly – in fact our youngest patient was 2 weeks old at the time of her first adjustment and our oldest is 93 years old. Patients often say that they are pleasantly surprised by how much time our doctors spend with patients. We start with a thorough history and evaluation. The more accurately we can figure out what’s causing the problem, the better we are at fixing it. We discuss your options for treatment and let you decide what you want to do.

Some of our most rewarding cases involve:

Upper back pain/stiffness with neck pain and/or headaches

Chiropractor Auburn We Can Help

Chiropractic can help just about anyone, regardless of their age.

One of the most common complaints our Auburn chiropractors hear from patients involves upper back pain, stiff muscles, burning pain in-between the shoulder blades and even headaches, usually worse with prolonged sitting or computer use. In many cases, the source of the problem has to do with spinal bones that are too straight and are causing the muscles to be overworked leading to chronic damage. We have had great success in not only diagnosing and correcting these problems, but also in keeping them from coming back.

Shoulder Pain

We have found that a large number of our patients with acute or chronic shoulder pain respond very well to chiropractic adjustments of the Scapula (shoulder blade), Clavicle (collar bone) and the Humerus (upper arm bone) and supportive treatments such as stretches and exercises.

Often times these patients have been told they have arthritis or torn muscles and ligaments. Physical therapy, prescription medications, even injections may have been partially effective or not effective in relieving the symptoms. Chiropractic adjustments can help!

The shoulder girdle is a complicated, very flexible joint and if one or all of the bones that make up that girdle are not moving correctly the result is overuse or under use resulting in tendonitis, bursitis, etc. of the affected shoulder. Much like if the alignment of your car is off, eventually you wear out one tire faster than the others.

Herniated/bulging discs and/or leg or arm pain

Historically, once a patient had been diagnosed with a herniated, bulging, slipped, or blown disc they were viewed as a lost cause. Depending on the severity of their symptoms they were either treated with physical therapy, medications, or injections and told they would need surgery later. In the worst cases, patients were moved directly into surgery thus bypassing more conservative alternatives.

Recent progress in the treatment of these disc conditions has led us to discover the benefits of Decompression Therapy. Slightly stretching the vertebrae (spinal bones) apart at a controlled weight and angle has shown proven benefits for these stubborn disc ailments. By separating the bones and creating more space for the disc and nerve (which exits your spinal column just behind the discs) and gently pumping these discs, we are able to help rejuvenate an unhealthy disc and return it to a healthier state. This often gives our patients welcomed, long-lasting relief from lower back, neck, arm, or leg pain.

Injuries from car crashes and similar trauma

Often times auto injuries are written-off as simple soft tissue injuries. Do you realize that ALL of the tissues in the body are soft tissue with the exception of bones and teeth? So even a severe injury such as a concussion or a herniated disc could be deemed a soft tissue injury. In many cases, the original painful symptoms will resolve within a few weeks but the underlying damage may take months or even years to surface if not treated correctly.

Think of an axe and a tree. If you cut the tree, it may take many years for the tree to actually die or to show signs of damage. Similar trauma can affect your joints or surrounding soft tissues and must be treated thoroughly to decrease the risk for future damage, such as degenerative disc/joint disease (a.k.a. arthritis), chronic headaches, and other symptoms of a condition known as late whiplash.

Once we’ve figured out the cause of the problem, it’s a matter of following through and working towards a correction. This can take a couple of visits or may require up to several weeks of treatment, depending on the circumstances of your specific condition. But most of the problems we treat should show improvement within a few short weeks. As Dr. Adams, D.C., DACO, DABCI, DABCN, often tells patients, “If this is not improving within 4 weeks, then we’re not treating the right problem.” In this case we may order additional tests to further evaluate your particular condition.

We also encourage patients to actively participate and follow through with our recommendations for exercise, dietary and lifestyle changes to ensure the fastest and best results. We want to help you to achieve your goals!
